Toro® RainSensors™ Save Water and Money
BLOOMINGTON, Minn. (Spring 2011) - Why spend the money watering your lawn if Mother Nature is doing it for you? With Toro® RainSensors™ you don't have to worry about wasting water when it rains, they'll shut your sprinkler system off for you. These water-saving devices are great for the environment. They're also great for your bottom line, saving you from paying for water you don't need.
Many states and cities across the country are mandating that homeowners have a rain-sensing device. Toro's three RainSensor options are compatible with most timers and make upgrading your sprinkler system an easy do-it-yourself project. Choose from wired or wireless model sensors, connect to your system and then use the Quick-Clip™ gutter bracket to easily install the sensor without using any tools.
Toro RainSensors use hygroscopic discs to sense when it's raining. This professional technology allows you to adjust the rain sensitivity from 1/8 to 1 inch. When the sensor receives the specified amount of rain, it automatically turns your sprinkler system off to avoid wasting water.
Wired RainSensor™
This model requires wiring between the sensor and the controller. It comes with 25 feet of UV protected UL rated connection wire. Suggested retail price of $23.97 (USD).
Wired Rain/Freeze Sensor™
This new model has all the great features of the Wired RainSensor with the addition of a freeze detection function. The system will automatically suspend watering during freezing temperatures, reducing potential damage to plants and dangerous icy walkways. Suggested retail price of $39.97 (USD).
Wireless RainSensor™
This wireless sensor communicates with controllers up to 300-feet away. Its weatherproof receiver can be mounted indoors or outdoors and features a visual sensor status LED, so you know it's working. A Smart Bypass™ Button overrides the system at any time for greater control of suspended watering windows and includes 5-year, replaceable batteries. Suggested retail price of $59.97 (USD).
